16739: Electro-Magnetic Lab Expert

Description:

This position supports an intelligence community customer storage site with a staff of between 20 - 30 made up of both government employees and contractors.  The site receives equipment from contractors, conducts test and inspection activities on new equipment, on equipment being prepared for issue and on equipment returned after use.  Other technical staff build equipment components that support unique equipment configuration requirements.

The Electromagnetic Lab Expert will support the integration and testing of wireless communications and data relay components and systems operating in a range from kHz to tens of GHz. The Electromagnetic Lab Expert shall make performance measurements, recommend enhancements and trouble shoot issues. The Electromagnetic Lab Expert will analyze and implement a variety of wireless communications technologies, including WiFi, land mobile radio (LMR), HF radio, and satellite communications. Typical tests to be performed include, but not limited to

  • Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR), Effective Isotropic Radiated Power (EIRP), Signal to Noise+ Distortion (SINAD), sensitivity, and power consumption.
  • Modeling of antennas and platforms
  • Knowledge of satellite and terrestrial communications systems (including link budgets, electromagnetic propagation, general radio theory)
  • Experience with analyzing and implementing a variety of wireless communications technologies, including WiFi, land mobile radio (LMR), HF radio, and satellite communications
  • Experience with RF interference prevention and resolution
  • Experience with installing, testing, and maintaining RF systems and equipment
  • Experience with developing RF link budgets and designing antenna and transmission line systems
  • Experience with modeling and simulating RF systems, including preparation of coverage analyses and GIS mapping
  • Requires occasional overtime and/or weekend work.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:
  • Experience with analyzing and implementing a variety of wireless communications technologies, including WiFi, land mobile radio (LMR), HF radio, and satellite communications
  • Experience with RF interference prevention and resolution
  • Experience with installing, testing, and maintaining RF systems and equipment

Education:

  • Bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering, Math or Physics and 5 years’ experience or Master's Degree and 3 years’ experience.

Clearance:

  • TS Clearance with current or recent access to SCI and FS polygraph is required.
